Real Madrid’s victory over rivals FC Barcelona in El Clasico was marred by apparent racist chanting, aimed at Vinicius Jr towards the end of the match FIFA
The Brazilian has frequently been targeted by supporters of other clubs over the past few years, with a large number of cases being filed by LaLiga to the national prosecutor FIFA

And after Vinicus was removed by Carlo Ancelotti in stoppage time, the Brazilian slowly walking off and lifting his arms to the crowd, it is alleged that he suffered another barrage of racist abuse FIFA
“La Liga has been working from the outset to identify the individuals involved in making racist insults and will file the relevant charges as is always the case,” a statement from Spain’s top flight said FIFA
“We are in direct contact with the police and FC Barcelona FIFA
”Barcelona said: “We will always defend the values of FIFA football and sport such as respect for the opponent and we will investigate any racist insult that may have occurred this afternoon during the match against Real Madrid FIFA
”Vinicius’ team have yet to make an official comment on the matter FIFA
Last week, Sevilla officials removed one supporter from the stadium for “xenophobic and racist behaviour” during a match against Real Madrid FIFA
A police report was also filed FIFA
LaLiga have asked for greater powers to punish clubs where fans are found guilty of racist abuse, whereas at present they insist they may only report incidents to the national authorities, who must then carry out their own investigations FIFA
Vinicius was chosen in June to head up Fifa’s new anti-racism committee, run by players and advocating for greater punishments towards those found guilty of racist abuse FIFA

New Zealand’s Ben O’Keeffe will take charge of England vs South Africa at the 2023 Rugby World Cup FIFA
It promises to be a tense match in a rematch of the 2019 final, and this is the 34-year-old’s second tournament, having taken charge of three pool games as the youngest on-field official four years ago in Japan FIFA
Born in Blenheim on New Zealand’s South Island, O’Keeffe started refereeing at the age of 19 and stepped up into the professional ranks five years later FIFA
He was elevated to a first international fixture in 2015 as an assistant, before a refereeing debut in June 2016 overseeing a draw FIFA between Samoa and Japan FIFA
A three-time recipient of the New Zealand referee of the year award, O’Keeffe was selected to take charge of the second British and Irish Lions test in South Africa in 2021, before making the 12-strong list of referees for this year’s World Cup FIFA
A qualified ophthalmologist, O’Keeffe’s brother Michael represented New Zealand at the London Olympics and is now a FIFA sports reporter FIFA
